Redesigning GeoWeb DNV - The District of North Vancouver's GIS Website (Shawn McLeod)

Shawn McLeod is the GIS Manager for the District of North Vancouver and has held this position for the past 10 years. In the early years of his tenure, Shawn created a GIS department which built the DNV’s geographic information system. In addition, he has worked on a number of other corporate initiatives such as asset management, space planning, and customer service. Currently, Shawn’s vision is to build a strong sense of GIS awareness in the community while providing rich information to the public via new generation GIS applications.

Shawn is a past president of URISA BC. He has written a number of publications and has presented on a variety of topics related to the spatial sciences. During Shawn’s tenure the DNV have won awards for their excellence and innovation in the field of GIS. Prior to joining the DNV, Shawn worked in the mining sector with Canamera Geological and consulted in land management.

Shawn was born in Vancouver and raised on the North Shore. He has a degree in geography from Simon Fraser University and is a certified GIS professional.
