Jerry Maedel has worked in the Faculty of Forestry, UBC teaching and doing research with GIS and Remote Sensing for the past two decades. His primary research interest is in how GIS technology is adopted by organizations. He is also the campus site license manager for a number of spatial software packages. As the GIS ‘guru’ on campus he has enjoyed working with a very diverse group of people: from those tracking fish species around the world to those mapping the closeness of prophylactic dispensers to social gatherings.
