Jonathan Mark is the City of Vancouver’s GIS Manager and is in the Information Technology Department.  He has been in that position since 1990.  In this role, he and his Team are responsible for the City's corporate GIS infrastructure (core software, hardware, and databases) as well as the VanMap implementation.  Jonathan's work with the City has also included responsibility for systems in the Health Department, Property Division, and Stores.  Jonathan has presented many times at URISA and other conferences.

Prior to joining the City in 1984, Jonathan taught in the Urban Land Economics Division of the Faculty of Commerce at UBC.  He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics in 1977.
