On December 13, 2007, the British Columbia Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA BC) hosted a one day seminar entitled:

GIS Applications & Data Integration

Date: December 13, 2007
Time: 8:00 am – 4:15 pm
Location: Hilton Vancouver Metrotown 6083 MacKay Avenue, Burnaby, BC

Geographic Information Systems are no longer a niche application with government and private sector organizations.  Staff are realizing the value of accessing their business information using location-based technologies.  Whether it is viewing tax and utility data for properties in a specific geographic area or viewing asset maintenance information on a map along with other geographic data, GIS applications and processes are becoming more tightly integrated with an organization’s other business information.

In addition, with the increased use of GIS, more organizations are collecting geographic data and making it available to others.  Recent technologies have allowed disparate companies to share their complementary data and present it in a seamless “mash-up” application.
